"I begin by comparing the two live shots. Only 2 different airplane videos are confirmed to have been shown live -- news helicopter shots known as 'Chopper 5' and 'Chopper 7.'" [See Chopper 7 details.]
What about NBC, Ace? Chopper4 LIVE NBC4 was coming from this guy's TVwhile he was recording the TV with his videocamera!
Ace does not mention Chopper4 because the following "characteristics necessary for live video compositing" were not present:
Very brief (<1.5 seconds) appearance and disappearance of plane
High contrast between sky and tower edge
Plane path is across sky only
No panning, tilting, zooming or focusing while airplane is on screen
In addition to NBC, other LIVE videos of the plane were recorded, as seen in the playlist above. For example, take the CBS shot in the TV archive. It is also available on DVD with the CBS News book What We Saw. Was it not LIVE?
Finally, briefly consider the suspicious nature of the FOX5 Washington broadcast. It seems to be altered for the archive. WNYW audio is dubbed over a static shot from NBC of the North Tower. Maybe it really was broadcast that way.

Wide Shot
No plane is visible in the wide shot. A real plane would be at least 4 pixels, and present in all frames 1-170. [Ace, please update your page.]
UPDATE: In September of 2009 myfoxny.com put the footage on the web in FLV format. Their viewer is small, but you can grab the 640x368 FLV using a program like DownloadHelper. Or download a 253.5MB .rar file here with a lossless .avi version frame numbered, and the frames individually included.
